PLEASE READ: The rules have changed regarding who may apply for Media Accreditation. The Festival is reducing the number of Media Passes issued this year and redefining who it considers to be Media.
Media accreditation will be available for working media at all official events. No accreditation is required for free admission events and no special privileges will apply.
The Festival defines Media as journalists, photographers, broadcasters and videographers who are currently working or under contract to print and online newspapers, magazines, broadcast and internet radio stations, broadcast and online television shows.
Please note that media badges will not be issued to photographers who are solely using Smart Phones and Tablets to photograph and videotape at Festival events. Because of customer sightline complaints Media badge holders are not permitted to bring ladders to the King and Queen competition and the Grand Parade. Media badge holders are not permitted to stand on chairs at Festival events.
Individuals who own or are working for photography studios, photography websites, image banks, personal websites, blogs, Instagram and Facebook sites will not be issued Media passes. However, unaffiliated photographers and videographers may purchase a special media area pass for a $250 service charge.
All electronic recording or taping of the official events is specifically for the use of Entertainment/ news media only. No selling of images taken at the festival is permitted. No live-streaming and/or Pay-Per-View servicing is permitted. Any documentation of events used in any other capacity will be of unlawful use unless agreed to by the Festival Management Committee in advance.
